Cold and flu season hits hard during the winter, especially around the holidays when more people travel, share food, and gather close together indoors. Staying healthy doesn’t have to be complicated, small habits make a big difference!

Wash Hands the Smart Way

Handwashing is one of the best ways to prevent getting sick.Wash your hands:

  • Before you eat

  • After using the bathroom

  • After coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose

  • After being in public spaces like stores or events

Tip: Wash with warm water + soap for 20 seconds (the length of “Happy Birthday”).

Cover Coughs and Sneezes

Use your elbow or a tissue. Throw tissues away immediately, and wash or sanitize hands afterward.

Don’t Touch Your Face

Germs love to enter through your eyes, nose, and mouth. Try to avoid touching your face, especially when you’re around others.

Drink Water & Eat Nutritious Foods

Strong immune systems need fuel. Focus on:

  • Fruits and veggies

  • Proteins like beans, eggs, fish, poultry

  • Vitamin C foods (oranges, peppers, strawberries)

  • Plenty of water

Rest Is Medicine

Your body fights germs while you sleep. Less sleep = easier to get sick. Aim for regular sleep routines.

Clean & Share (Wisely)

If a lot of people are touching something (toys, gym equipment, iPads), wipe it down. Avoid sharing cups or utensils, even with people you know.

Stay Home If You’re Sick

Resting protects others and helps you get better faster. Staying home is not only responsible… it's community care.

Healthy habits protect you AND the people around you.
